What is Option Pricing?
Option Pricing is an app within VEO Design Studio designed to be a pre-contract / pre-design appointment, budgetary calculator for homebuyers and sales counselors.
You can work through multiple budget scenarios simply, quickly, and accurately to help ensure that a homebuyer can afford to contract with a builder.
What’s in Option Pricing?
Option Pricing will display your builder’s product offerings and prices to give homebuyers a transparent view into what is available and what it will cost.
Due to the complexity of building a new home and the amount of possible combinations of product selections that are available and their intricacies, not all products and their details will be shown in Option Pricing. These selections are better handled at your design appointment with a professional designer who knows which products go best with your currently selected products.
Options selections require a professional who knows how they need to be calculated and if there are any additionally required selections to be applied to your current selections.
If you include a mortgage rate and term, Option Pricing shows you the estimated monthly cost of individual items and total cost monthly estimates.
Am I held to purchase the things I select in Option Pricing?
No. Option Pricing selections are not added to a “shopping cart” like other websites. You are not held to purchase anything you click on in Option Pricing.
The best way to think of Option Pricing is as a calculator that allows you to quickly build different budget scenarios so you know you can afford to build your dream home by doing this homework in advance of contracting and your design appointment(s).
You can also “Wish List” products and images so that you can start building a library of items and design ideas to go over with your designer during your appointment(s).
About Catalog Items
Catalog Items take up the majority of products your builder offers. These products are much easier to display and select. Appliances, Plumbing, Lighting, and Hardware are just a few of the products that we call Catalog Items.
Click the “Select” button on any card and add it to the current budget configuration. Remember, you are not buying anything yet, just figuring out what will fit in your total budget.
About Estimated Items
Estimated items are the product offerings that could have several pricing scenarios due to their complexity of actual products and their different prices. We will show them in a grid configuration like in the image below.
Click on a pricing cell to start the budget creation, then click on any additional pricing cells that you require to complete what you need to see a total estimated price for a product in multiple areas.
about the possibility of pricing not matching…
Although we strive to give you a transparent pricing view, there are a factors that make things opaque:
In Option Pricing, we round the actual prices up to the next nearest $10. During the pre-contract and pre-appointment budgeting processes, you don’t want to deal with pennies. We round the actual price up so you can get a slightly higher, worst case scenario estimate. The pricing at your design appointment(s) will be the actual price.
The structural options that you select could change room sizes and affect final pricing. We show you what is called “base house” and “major structurals” in Option Pricing and if you stray from the base house and decide on room extensions, additional rooms, or additional structurals they could create a difference in pricing between Option Pricing and your design appointment.
Option Pricing does not show Tile patterns, Countertop edges, carpet pad, etc. These selections and others can increase the final price you pay amount due to the complexity of the calculations to finalize the price.
Sometimes a builder requires combinations of areas to be included into one price. Each builder can decide to display pricing as they see fit so there can be confusion as to what a price represents.
